♦ Géophys. Région de l'espace entourant la Terre dans laquelle est confiné le champ magnétique terrestre.

n. f. GEOPH Zone s'étendant, autour de la Terre, des limites de l'atmosphère à une distance d'env. 60 000 km, dans laquelle le champ magnétique subit l'influence de l'activité solaire (orages magnétiques, notam.).
